"This painting is comprised of seven entries. The first entry took up the whole page, and each time a new day was recorded, I move about 1.5” in from the edges. It creates this mirror effect and a wonky semi-symmetry. The entries become columns of stacked color indicating moments in time. Each column represents a day, only we see the same day in two locations. The yellow-ochre stripes represent September. The colors along the top and bottom edges indicate that column’s day. Friday is in the center, Saturday in the corners. Stand-out events can be opportunities for unique mark making and textures that correspond to that memory, in this case all the rain we had last week. You can see the rain at moments in the week when, well, that was clearly the most interesting thing going on. It was a lot of rain." -- 4 October 2023
